Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a comprehensive psychotherapy originated and developed by Francine Shapiro, Ph.D. and guided by the EMDR Institute.  EMDR accelerates the treatment of a wide range of pathologies and self-esteem issues related to disturbing events and present life conditions. This interactional, standardized approach has been empirically tested in over 20 randomized controlled studies with trauma patients, and hundreds of published case reports evaluating a considerable range of presenting complaints, including depression, anxiety, phobias, excessive grief, somatic conditions and addictions. 

EMDR Training

EMDR therapy is a specialized approach that requires supervised training for full therapeutic effectiveness and client safety. Margaret V. (Peggy) Moore, LISW is a licensed, certified and EMDRIA approved EMDR Consultant, Humanitarian Assistance Program Trainer and EMDR Institute Regional Trainer for New Mexico, West Texas and Southern Colorado. She has 26 years of experience with EMDR and has taught it across the country and Internationally. She provides EMDR Therapy Basic Training for licensed mental health practitioners who treat adults and children in a clinical setting. You must be a licensed Mental Health Practitioner or under the supervision of a fully licensed Mental Health Practitioner.  If you are a student or if you have not completed licensure as an Independent Practitioner you will need a letter from your supervisor in oder to attend.

The training consists of lecture, live and videotaped demonstrations and supervised practice. Participants are required to read the textbook by Francine Shapiro, PhD, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing: Basic Principles, Protocols and Procedures Guilford Press, NY, 3rd Edition, 2017. 

Ms. Moore and other workshop leaders have been individually selected and trained by Dr. Shapiro to provide the comprehensive information necessary for appropriate client selection and effective utilization of EMDR therapy.
